Cathy Smith is a woman of deep faith, who has developed a method of prayer that offers guidance to all of us on praying for guidance through all of life’s situations—including even when we don’t feel like praying. Her love of nature, silence, humanity and God is the underlying reason for Pray for Guidance. The book gives a step by step guide for our daily lives…a method to connect with God and our innermost selves. It is a gift of guidance in our daily routine, stressful situations, and when we are looking for inspiration. A gift to the reader to use daily or as needed. A gift that brings knowledge, guidance, contemplation, peace and mainly a way of increasing our connection with God.
Joan M. Maruskin Social justice advocate and community activist
This is a very useful workbook that links prayer directly to life-changing action! Written with an honesty and clarity that invites the reader to interact and grow spiritually, it will not be relegated to a shelf. Instead it will find a place at hand, to be used and reused on a regular basis.

If you like workbooks, then you will enjoy Cathy’s ideas for an active prayer life. Pray for Guidance will help you stay focused. Instead of making your own schedule, consider following some of Cathy’s unique solutions. I like the fact that you don’t have to follow the order of the chapters. You can select a chapter that addresses your needs at a particular time. The workbook has questions for you to think about and answer. Jotting down notes gives you material to reread when a particular problem arises again. Cathy includes an empty cross in each chapter for you to fill in when you have accomplished an activity. It helps you evaluate your progress.

Cathy Curry Smith’s workbook entitled, Pray for Guidance is a rich and engaging work which can support anyone in furthering their spiritual journey. The workbook format means that it is lively and flexible, to be used all-straight-through or by skipping around and following the issues that most draw at a person’s heart at the moment. There are tips for using the workbook as a group, but it also would work well for individual study and reflection. There are Bible verses included, and thoughtful questions throughout, as well as space in which to write or draw. The author shares personally from her experience in a way that invites the reader to lay aside formalities and authentically explore the subject. Be ready to dive in and be changed.
